More Japanese Animation [Tuesday, November 23, 2004]

Princess Mononoke was all right... but wow! There's random and then there's nonsense, which sometimes can be ok or even enjoyable. So I finished watching Spirited Away, and seriously, that movie is complete nonsense. It's not Alice in Wonderland fun nonsense either. It's like they're trying to make the nonsense somewhat serious.

Case A (and B, and C, and D...): Several times thoroughout the movie, a random character would pop into the story and then a character would have to pause and explain the new character, but try to make it flow with the story. That flowing with the story part? Failure! Just about when you thought you had a handle on what was going on some new character would show up to tell you that no, you indeed had no clue what was happening. To keep this entry short, that's all I'll write, but trust me, there was so much more.

I think the only person who would make this movie fun to watch is Tim, but that's because he makes anything fun to watch.

Fashion Oblivion [Sunday, November 21, 2004]

Apparently, I never got the memo that terry-cloth clothing was "out".

But then again, nobody ever told me that terry cloth was "in", either, as I guess it was big-time a little over a year ago. It's all good, though. I only have one terry-cloth shirt, and I will continue to wear it from time to time. How do you like them apples, fashion police?

A Day for Theives [Wednesday, November 10, 2004]

I walked out to my car this morning and as I approached it, I was thinking "Didn't I lock my doors last night?" (since approaching it, I saw my doors were, in fact unlocked.) Turns out, someone had broken into my car. Luckily, there was nothing valuable in there, so the person(s?) took what they could - my stereo faceplace, my cd collection (all burned, haha), and a toolbox and some random little stuff. I don't have anything valuable in my car anyway, so no big deal.

Now, what's weird: Later, Victoria* shared with our flock that someone had broken into Yvette*'s car and took some much more valuable stuff (of Victoria*'s and Yvette*'s). So, I guess today (possibly last night for me) was just a bad day to have a car. I'm sorry Yv*!

* - Name changed to protect identity; you know who you are.

First Step of many

I secured a real posting site in blogspot.com! This is the first step toward developing the blog/forum type data I want in this iframe. Only thing is, why do I discover this at 2:15 in the morning with morning prayer @ 7:30 tomorrow.

by the way, my blogspot uri is palswim.blogspot.com, but you see that page here before you and (imho) it looks a lot better in this context.

Major Changes in Palswim Town [Sunday, November 07, 2004]

So, I revamped my front page with my first update in about 6 months. Hopefully this new format will encourage me to update more. Also, I plan to put a forum or interactive blog thing so people can comment on stuff here, but that phrase "plan to" always seems to imply "will not".

Mirelle's 21st! [Saturday, November 06, 2004]

Even though her birthday was Tuesday (the 2nd), we celebrated Mirelle's 21st birthday today by eating sushi and then trying to enjoy Dave & Buster's. It was really nice seeing Pheng, who I hadn't seen for probably at least 2 years. It was also nice to see Richard, tho I didn't really ever know him that well; and also nice to see Vu, tho I'd seen him about a month ago. Always nice to see Tim, Jeremy, Mirelle and Patrick!

Jeremy was really excited to get into Dave & Buster's legally - ever since our debacle of a Dave & Buster's adventure four years ago, he's wanted to go into a Dave & Buster's and scream "I'm 21!" (and mean it).

Pride to Swallow [Thursday, November 04, 2004]

I took a midterm yesterday and I knew I messed it up. I did not know I messed it up to the tune of about 50%. This comes on the heels of me getting almost perfect on my big project for that same class.

The project made me think I was hot stuff, but this just goes to prove James 4:6 [But He gives a greater grace. Therefore it says {in Proverbs 3:34}, "God is opposed to the proud, but gives grace to the humble."]
