List of Do Nots
Do not assume any of these are or are not referring to you. You'll have to ask me.
Also, when I say "relationship", I mean the amorous kind. I'll say friendship when I mean it.
Experience
- Do not expect to sleep after drinking two coffee beverages and forgetting to eat dinner.
Do not mix strange substances together (i.e. vinegar and coffee) and think that the combination will taste good.
Do not play sports (especially land-based ones) in old-school Vans. (2x)
Do not identify every gun you see in a movie by model and relative damage out loud (in the presense of people who don't play video games).
Do not eat a Now-And-Later with a loose filling (thank goodness for baby tooth replacement).
Do not think that a relationship that depends on Internet communication will work. (2x)
Do not let a relationship start because of your apathy. (2x)
Do not let infatuation cloud your judgement. (So Many x)
Do not expect a relationship to last if you don't put any effort into it.
Do not assume someone will correctly interpret your word or action.
Do not believe that just because it sounds good in your head that it will sound good when you say it. (Too Many x)
Do not second-guess yourself when you know something.
Do not quit a job unless you have another job lined up.
Do not continue driving when you have to relieve yourself.
Do not try to form a "short-term" habit.
Other People
- Do not take this list and email it to everyone you know.
Do not try to shave your legs with an electric razor (especially your brother's).
Do not break your walkman (CD player), start using your mom's walkman without telling her, break it, and then start using your sister's walkman and yell at expletives at her when she finds out and wants it back.
Do not give a running commentary during a movie or sports event when you're not the one on the screen.
Do not say you're an atheist, then tell me how much you hate God.
Do not hasten marriage.
Do not care too much about sports.
Do not write poetry when nothing's happening in your life - that's how pop music emerges.
Edit (2005/12/29): Originally, this was a section of my main page. But it seemed to fit much more as a blog post. I posted it as a blog entry today, but it has been a part of my website since at least early 2003.
