Butterfly Assault [Thursday, March 31, 2005]
I have never seen as many butterflies flying around as I did today. I guess the Butterfly Duke amassed his minions to make one final assault on La Jolla. I did my part in defending the city by driving my car and most likely killing around 30 of the little buggers. But, the Duke's armies are vast and we'll see how the battle goes tomorrow. Also, the line for the shuttle was the longest I have ever seen it! It didn't help that the shuttles decided to stop and watch the amazing concentration of butterflies (maybe) while letting the line grow to at least 150 yards. Thankfully, I was near the front, but I did hear quite a few people utter obscenities as they walked past me and realized just how long that line was.
And now, some highlights from flocks (Central!) last night:
Pastor John: Let's go around and say your full name and where you'd like to visit before you die. (Later added "that you haven't visited before").
1st 5 people: My name is [name] and I would like to visit New Zeland.
Naomi: My name is Naomi [middle and last name], and now I guess I'd like to visit New Zeland - everyone seems to like it.
Me: My name is Ryan [middle and last name], and I'd like to visit Scotland... the motherland! (I could've said Germany or England or Colorado or Tennesee or Native America or pretty much any place in Europe and they would've all been motherlands - I'm just a mutt!)
Randy: My name is Randy [middle and last name]. (Laughter ensues at the middle name because it sounds like an Anime character's name.) I'd like to visit the motherland as well, Japan.
Beverly: Real name or fake name? ("real") awww.. Well, I'll do both! My fake name is Beverly Morgan [last name]. My real name is [I guess she's embarassed about it, last name] and I'd like to visit Rivendell! [what?! I guess pastor John failed to constrain it to reality!]
Steven: My name is Steven [middle and last name], and I'd like to visit uhhhhh (Beverly whispering) oh, I guess the Shire.
Central flock is the coolest! It's just the way it is.
Also, Albert, Hansol, Paul, Mike, and Jeff are the coolest because we get to grow together for a while (not like it couldn't have happened without small group, but you know what I'm saying! - and Jeff, you've always been the awesome because I can tell people we're brothers and they'll believe me).
